Decoder Magazine is an all-volunteer music site devoted to reconciling the apparent forward motion of time with the proliferation of humanity and human expression. That is to say, we enjoy interesting music and value insight into individuals and situations that produce it. We attempt to inquire broadly into the origins of perspective; for example, what may or may not be weird, when, why, and to whom. Sometimes mutation is subtle and in biological terms, even less frequently viable, so our ambition is to disproportionately acknowledge non-institutional proliferation: DIY musicians, experimental composers, bedroom producers, etc, and any other instance of an outcome and a methodology that locates agency in individuals
